Roberto Castagner - As a lifelong oenologist and Master Distiller who has done his training atprestigious Wine School of Conegliano, Castagner has been able to exhalt the best tradition of Grappa-making by renewing it through the creation of unique products, aimed at satisfying a modern and discriminating public. Roberto Castagner heads the Grappa and Spirits Academy, established in 2003 in partnership with 5 Distilleries to promote technological research, supervise the Grappa market and educate.
Tasting a grape brandy and draw objectively an assessment of technical merit, is today with no doubt more difficult, compared to an identical judgment referred to the evaluation of a grappa. It is clear that this difficulty is almost exclusively due to the not yet clearly identified "quality factor" that should characterize a grape brandy in a clear way. If today it is possible to identify for a grappa for each typical area of productions some quality standards of reference, this cannot happen for grape brandies, as it is a too young product and therefore still in the process of qualitative affirmation , not only from area to area ...
