Aquavit

Brandy produced from cereals and potatoes in Scandinavia and in Denmark. The first permission was allowed in 1498 in Stockholm for the production of an aquavit that was used as medicament. As an alcoholic drink, aquavit is prepared by passing the distillate through the carbon birch activated by steam jets in order to make aldeids and small ester quantities. Moreover, the distillate is flavoured of cumin, anise and other aromatic substances, lightly sweetened by sugar adding.
