Phylloxera

A very small insect belonging to aphids family. It was accidentally imported from America. The phylloxera has a very high reproduction and it infects leaves or roots absorbing the lymph, by making the vines die. Came in Europe in 1868, during few years it damaged the vine growing. The only vine still immune from phyllossera is the American vine, that if planted, establishes the point where a big variety of European vines are inserted.
