Serpentine
It is a condenser made of a long tin-plated copper tube, a multiple helix, which gives it the shape of the snake, hence its name. The longer the serpentine is the more useful it becomes, because once the steam and the liquid condense, it goes through wide cooling surfaces and therefore cools faster. The serpentine is completely immersed in a liquid. Adam has got two of them in his appliance and which one is immersed in water and the other in wine. The one immersed in wine is called first serpentine, the second one serpentine.
