Chinese restaurant owner denounced
Served fake Grappa to customers
In Palermo, the Forestry Police discovered a Chinese restaurant owner selling an alcoholic beverage, produced and bottled in China, passing it off as Grappa.
In fact, the name 'Grappa' can only be used for grape marc spirit produced in Italy and made from Italian grapes.
The restaurant owner was accused of fraud in trade and all the bottles found inside the premises were seized.
These inspections carried out by the various competent bodies are absolutely necessary in order to protect the end consumer as well as the genuine distillate made in Italy.
