Description:
"Distillation: process and mathematical model"
Distillation is used to separate the components of a homogeneous mixture, or to enrich the mixture in one of its components. Distillation is based on the fact that when you bring a liquid mixture, for instance a binary one, to its boiling point, the more volatile component will go into the vapor phase by a greater amount than the less volatile one; two mixtures are thus obtained, one in the vapor phase, richer in the more volatile component, and the other, in the liquid phase, richer in the less volatile component. By properly repeating the process, it is possible to obtain a mixture with the desired components concentration.
